Monthly Chamber Luncheon - April 2017
Join us each month for lunch! Our member luncheons offer great networking, an opportunity to make with new business connections and catch up with other. Each month we line up a different guest speaker to help keep our members up-to-date on the local community, business hot topics, statewide information and much more.
We will be hearing from Diane Cookson, President of UCHealth’s Highlands Ranch Hospital. She will be speaking in general about the new Highlands Ranch Hospital scheduled to open in late 2018. Tom Purcell will be talking about developments in cancer care that are of interest to the community.
In order to get an accurate head count, registration will close the Monday before lunch.
Diane Cookson, MBA
President UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital
Diane Cookson is President of UCHealth’s Highlands Ranch Hospital. She joined the UCHealth team in August 2016. Ms Cookson brings over 20 years of community hospital experience. Most recently Ms. Cookson provided leadership in opening Sky Ridge Medical Center. After opening Sky Ridge, Ms. Cookson served as Vice President of Operations and Physician Services. In her role, Cookson managed over $200 million in capital expansion projects. In addition to the expansion oversight, Cookson lead multiple service line developments and growth which include physician practice acquisitions and oversight. She is an expert in hospital regulatory affairs. Cookson enjoys hiking, playing pickleball and is an amateur wildlife photographer.
W. Thomas Purcell, MD, MBA
Medical Oncologist
Dr. Purcell trained in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the Emory University School of Medicine followed by residency training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He then completed fellowship training in Medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Purcell joined the faculty of the University of Colorado in May of 2012. He is currently the Executive Medical Director, Oncology Services and Associate Director for Clinical Services of the University of Colorado Cancer Center. He is very involved in clinical activities and focuses on GI and Lung cancer. His most recent project is a wellness incentive for cancer patients called BFitBWell in which cancer patients are encouraged to begin and maintain an exercise program at the Anschutz Wellness Center to help maintain wellness during cancer treatment.
