THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF HIGHLANDS RANCH
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY ("AUP") FOR WEBSITE

This written declaration of policy is intended to enhance the use of the web site developed by the Chamber of Commerce of Highlands Ranch through prevention of unacceptable usage. All users of this web site shall comply with the AUP, whether members of the Chamber of Commerce or visitors to the site. The Chamber encourages and supports the free flow of information and ideas over the Internet and will not actively monitor the use of the website under normal circumstances. The Chamber may not be able to exercise control over the content of any documentation or electronic mail transmission generated as a result of this website; however, any materials developed or transmitted based upon the data contained with the Chamber's website, which the Chamber may determine to be improper, illegal or subject the Chamber to liability of any nature, may result in investigation of the suspected or alleged civil wrong or crime, either with assistance of counselor through local governmental authorities. Any violation of this AUP may result in the suspension or termination of your access to this website; or, if a member is violating the AUP, termination of the member's right to appear on the web site or such other penalty as the Board of Directors may deem appropriate.

To be more specific, it is deemed unlawful to use this website for the transmission of any material that intentionally or unintentionally violates applicable local, state, national or international law, or rules or regulation promulgated hereunder. This includes any use of the website which may in any manner harm minors; constitutes or threatens or encourages bodily harm or destruction of property; encourages or promotes fraudulent offers to sell or buy products or advance any financial scam known as a "pyramid scheme", "ponzi scheme" and/or "chain letters".

Additional violations would include making use of the website to develop a database for transmittal of unsolicited commercial email or unsolicited bulk mail to the members or individuals listed on the Chamber website. This would also include seeking to deceive or mislead third parties or members of the Chamber through improper impersonation or anonymous distribution of mailers, including those through "news" postings. Such distribution of materials is deemed to be a form of "spam" email not acceptable under the AUP. The website is to be used to provide information to members and the general public; it is not to be used as a database to collect personal information about members without their knowledge or consent, especially if said database is sold or provided to third parties for consideration.

The Chamber requests that anybody who believes that there is a violation of the AUP direct that information to the executive director for the Chamber of Commerce of Highlands Ranch. The information to be provided should include the name, address (postal or email) and phone number of the alleged violator; the conduct which gives rise to the concern; any evidence supporting the conduct; and the date and time of the offense. The Chamber will respond through written or verbal warnings. If the conduct comes from a Chamber member, the Board may suspend said member's rights or terminate his membership; and, may bring legal action to enjoin further violations and/or collect damages, or refer the matter to government authorities for appropriate response.
